The pet product sector, which has a global economic volume of 285 billion dollars and ranks fifth in retail, met for the first time at Petzoo Africa in Cairo from 21 to 23 November, the first international pet product fair on the African continent.

Petzoo Africa, which took place in the MENA region (Middle East – North Africa), brought together manufacturers, retailers and professionals from the pet industry in Egypt for the first time in an exhibition space covering over 5000m2. Almost 100 major players from the global pet product market were in attendance, with Italian, Spanish and Turkish brands accounting for the largest share.

In addition, according to the trade fair organisers, the country itself is undergoing significant change: the number of pet owners on the African continent is rising rapidly. More and more people are getting pets, and in parallel, demand is growing for a wide range of products, from food to accessories. Egypt, Africa's largest economy with a population of 125 million, is a strategic location for the industry. In addition, the national currency has gained 14% in value over the last five months.
