The wholesale company Iwersen, which was based in Haderslev, Denmark, has handed its business in the Danish pet supplies market over to former rival Meldgaard. Managing director Malene Iwersen confirmed in a telephone conversation with PETworldwide that the longstanding family-owned business has been liquidated. The company's participation as an exhibitor in Zooevent in Kassel was also cancelled at short notice.
The German pet supplies trade is also affected by the closure, as retailers were supplied by the company's Flensburg branch. To ensure that the products continue to be available to German retailers, Malene Iwersen is looking for new importers. As a result, the Danish accessory brand Westpaw will be marketed with immediate effect by Aqua-Pet in Bürstadt.
