Death announced of Joel Malmstroem

Joel Malmstroem, the inventor of the internationally known “Back to Nature” backgrounds for aquariums, died unexpectedly a few days ago at just 53 years of age in his factory at Kopparberg, Sweden, according to an announcement on the company website. This is tragic, not least for his daughter Erika, who is only ten years old. The international aquarist scene, too, is mourning him as a visionary and trailblazer, and as an established figure in that scene. The website reports that the production of the familiar backgrounds will continue to be carried out by the company’s employees.
