Low growth rate in Australia

This year’s Pet Expo 2011 in Sydney was attended by 1 427 people, with 283 visiting on both days, giving a total attendance of 1 708. This is up on Melbourne’s figures (1 354 excluding both day visitors) and an improvement on the previous Sydney show (1 335 excluding both day visitors). The breakdown by sector is as follows: 51 per cent retail, 22 per cent grooming, 2.5 per cent boarders, 13 per cent suppliers, and 11.5 per cent other (veterinary nurses, dog walkers, day care, manufacturers, medical insurance for pets, breeders, wholesalers and behaviourists). Next year the Expo will take place in Queensland.
