The Italian wholesale pet food market was worth just over €1.2 billion in the twelve months to June 2025. This represents a slight stagnation of -0.6% in value and -1.4% in volume compared to the previous year. These are the findings of the 18th edition of the Osservatorio Immagino market study by GS1 Italy, which has now been published.
According to the study, there is moderate price pressure (inflation approx. 1.5%) accompanied by falling demand (-2.8 percentage points), while supply has expanded slightly (+2.3 percentage points) and advertising pressure is increasing (promotional share approx. 22%). The cat market remains the more dynamic segment, with cat snacks in particular showing significant growth (approx. +7.7% in value, +5.3% in volume). Snacks are also the growth drivers for dogs (approx. +1.0% in value, +2.2% in volume).
