It is a fixed date in the global trade fair calendar: 24,351 people from 134 countries attended the 30th edition of Fi Europe in Paris. 1,470 exhibitors from the food, beverages, nutrition, food technology and pet food from all over the world were on site to provide inspiration. In addition to inspiration, further training and essential networking opportunities, Fi Europe offered participants a first glimpse of the trends that will shape the industry this year.

Efforts to emphasise human connection were at the heart of the 30th anniversary edition. The Community Hub – a dedicated area designed to bring together micro-communities and industry groups – promoted collaboration and knowledge sharing through presentations and gatherings, while the Tasting Bar invited participants to experience ingredients through sensory product samples. The Innovation Awards also provided an opportunity to celebrate groundbreaking achievements and offered attendees the chance to expand their networks in a fun, relaxed environment.

Fi Europe 2025 created special focus areas for several of the industry's fastest-growing segments and highlighted innovative solutions. As functional foods and beverages become increasingly integrated into the industry, brand owners and manufacturers have the opportunity to develop products with targeted health benefits in 2026. To support them with insights and information, Informa hosted a dedicated spotlight area with expert panels on the gut-brain axis, microbiome modulation and the changing role of food as medicine. A dedicated innovation tour on health and wellness demonstrated how brands can add value through science-backed ingredients and personalised solutions.

Food upcycling also emerged as an important topic, driven by increased consumer awareness and stricter sustainability regulations.

Preparations for Fi Europe 2026

‘It is important that we use the insights gained from this year's show to shape the next edition,’ explains Yannick Verry, Brand Director, Fi Europe. ‘For example, over 200 people attended the first networking event on animal nutrition. Based on this result and the feedback from participants during the trade fair, we expect the area dedicated to pet food in Frankfurt to triple. We also plan to double the area for food production equipment and services in 2026.’

Fi Europe 2026 will take place from 17 to 19 November at Messe Frankfurt before returning to Paris in 2027. Further information: https://www.figlobal.com/europe/en/home.html
