The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has successfully renegotiated the export certificate for pet food and pet treats destined for Mexico (HA2730), according to a media release. As part of this update, an addendum has been created to provide additional space for listing all products included in an export shipment.

The local CFIA office is ready to provide advice. The updated guideline for preparing export certificates for the Canadian pet food industry is available in both English and French on the government’s official website.

Additionally, beginning 1 January 2028, all Canadian facilities that manufacture and export pet food to South Korea must be approved by the APQA (Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency). The documents required for approval will vary depending on each facility’s export history and use of ingredients. Facilities wishing to begin or continue exporting pet food to South Korea must contact their local CFIA office to obtain the required forms and schedule an inspection if one has not been completed in the past year.
