More sales, fewer new stores

Das Futterhaus operates 391 outlets in Germany and Austria.

The corporate group Das Futterhaus has reported sales of 213.8 mio euros for the first six months of 2020 (1st half of 2019: 189.4 mio euros). Its German stores increased sales in the first six months by 12.9 per cent compared with last year to 192.8 mio euros (1st half of 2019: 170.8 mio). The stores in Austria increased their sales by 12.6 per cent to 21 mio euros (1st half of 2019: 18.7 mio euros).

Ten new stores were opened in the first six months, including two in Austria. This brings the number of stores operated by Das Futterhaus to 348 in Germany and 43 in Austria.

The company had originally planned to open 28 new stores by the end of the year. It has had to revise this figure downwards due to the pandemic, however. "Delays have occurred at several of the proposed locations. We are currently assuming 20 new stores by the end of the year," said Andreas Schulz, CEO of Das Futterhaus.

Director Klaus Meyer-Kortenbach is forecasting continued growth for the second half of the year: "We are currently expecting to be able to complete our fiscal year ahead of plan." He points to the positive sales trend in the existing stores as evidence of this.
