Lawsuit against Champion Petfoods

25.08.2020

The animals' rights organisation Animal Equality has filed a lawsuit against pet food manufacturer Champion Petfoods for falsely advertising several of its Arcana brand products. The organisation criticises the claims for the company's fish ingredients, such as "caught by fishermen we know and trust" and "from American waters". It stresses that certain fish species such as rainbow trout, a primary ingredient in numerous Acana products, are almost exclusively industrially farmed, not caught in the wild.
Animal Equality also complains that certain Acana products containing rainbow trout tested positive for ethoxyquin, a controversial feed additive commonly found in products that contain fish.
