CBD, a non-psychoactive counterpart to THC, is the primary cannabinoid in industrial hemp. Its use to treat disorders of dogs and cats related to anxiety, seizures, cancer and pain has been increasing in recent years. Studies confirm that hemp-based CBD appears to be safe in healthy populations of dogs and cats. Demand for CBD products for pets is huge in the USA and Canada in particular.
Tanja Kožuh, marketing manager and head of the pet food and pet care department  at the Ljubljana-based company Mediglobe, has been working in the pet product industry for almost 15 years. Nevertheless, she perceives enormous potential in the medium to long term for the brand Earth's Goodies, under which Mediglobe runs and operates its hemp- and CBD-based product business.

This year, Tanja Kožuh also visited the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, because she is targeting expansion into the USA for Mediglobe. She plans to have her own stand at the Global Pet Expo next year. The company originally intended to exhibit at Interzoo in May, too, but this plan had to be abandoned due to the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic in the meantime.
Behind Mediglobe is Iris, a company active in the veterinary field. Established in 1981, it supplies hospitals, clinics, healthcare centres and institutions, veterinary clinics and farms as well as pet retailers and other buyers with human and veterinary medicines, pet food and pet care products. Iris employs approx. 50 people. Among other things, it is an important distributor for the internationally active raw pet food specialist Natures Menu. In addition, the company also markets well-known brands such as True Instinct…
