As sustainability becomes an increasingly decisive factor in the global pet food sector, Petfood Forum 2026 is positioning itself at the forefront of responsible industry events, according to a press release. Taking place in Kansas City from 27–29 April, the event will once again see WATT Global Media partner with the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), which returns as the official Sustainability Partner.

For 2026, Petfood Forum is expanding both the scope and depth of its sustainability programme. Building on previous initiatives, the event will implement enhanced recycling systems, sustainable sourcing of materials, reduced paper use, wider adoption of its mobile app, and food recovery donations benefiting local shelters and food pantries. These measures are designed to meaningfully reduce the event's environmental footprint.

A benchmark for future industry events

The renewed partnership with PSC brings additional expertise to this effort. The coalition is working closely with the event team to evaluate and improve sustainability performance, helping to establish a benchmark for future pet industry events. Steve Akins, Executive Vice President of Global Petfood & Events at Watt Global Media, describes sustainability as ‛a cornerstone to the future of the pet food industry,’ noting that PSC’s involvement delivers both high-value content and community engagement that drives practical progress.

Jim Lamancusa, CEO of PSC, highlights the collaboration as an example of genuine leadership, citing Watt Global Media’s commitment not only to promoting sustainable business practices through media and recognition, but also to reducing the environmental impact of its own events.

Beyond sustainability, Petfood Forum 2026 offers a comprehensive programme of educational sessions led by internationally recognised experts, alongside high-level networking with senior decision-makers and a substantial exhibition featuring key global suppliers. The event is preceded by Petfood Essentials on 27 April, an interactive seminar focused on operational efficiency, cost control and the use of emerging technologies, including AI.

PSC’s presence will also be visible on the show floor, where accredited member companies will be clearly identified, and through dedicated networking opportunities, including the return of its popular sustainability-focused networking event. Together, these elements underline Petfood Forum’s ambition to combine commercial insight with responsible leadership for the future of pet food.
