Pet food takes centre stage

Nestlé Purina Petcare creates new jobs


As early as last November, market research company Global Data identified that Nestlé was shifting its business strategy to the pet food segment. The annual report published last February also left no doubt that the pet food product category was the biggest contributor to the company's growth, Global Data reports.
Latest figures from Global Data's job analytics now show that Nestlé's job postings for Purina Petcare increased by 251 per cent between the first quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021. More than 1 600 jobs were advertised between January 2020 and June 2021, it said. Notably, Global Data said, the company advertised around 400 jobs in the second quarter of 2021, which is the highest number since the first quarter of 2020.
Employees will be hired in existing factories, among other places. However, 300 employees will also be hired for the new factory in Hartwell, Georgia. And a new plant is scheduled to open in North Carolina in 2022, where the company also plans to create 300 jobs.
