Eheim power units pose a fire hazard

Eheim has decided on a voluntary recall of 100 watt power units after it was found that an overload of the supply lead to the LED lamp might occur in isolated cases when the unit was installed in home aquariums, thereby causing a fire risk.
The unit affected in Germany is the LED power unit 4203210 for EHEIM powerLED (1st generation). The 100 watt power units concerned have the production data MFD140501, MFD141002, MFD141204 and MFD150402 and were sold by pet supplies retailers and in DIY stores and garden centres with pet departments between 2014 and 2016.
By instigating a recall, Eheim wants to ensure that consumers stop using the Eheim powerLED power unit and contact the responsible Eheim service team in their country immediately. Eheim wishes to apologise to its customers for the inconvenience suffered in this regard.
