The Internet newsletter of the US-American magazine “Petfood industry” has reported that Canadian pet food manufacturer Champion Petfoods is working to reduce the smell from its plant in Morinville, Alberta, after local residents complained about the odours from the plant. According to the company’s president, Frank Burdzy, the smell problems began around 2007, when Champion Petfoods added more meat ingredients to its products. The company has since lowered the heat in its dryers, improved airflow in the plant and finalised plans for new stacks to be installed in the spring, in an effort to reduce the smell to a maximum of five odour units.
