Belgian company loses two of its staff in Katowice roof collapse

Two employees of the Belgian firm Versele Laga were killed when the roof of a trade hall in Katowice, Poland, collapsed. The fatalities were export manager Valentin Mandica, who had worked for Versele Laga for 14 years, and his assistant Zsolt Kajdar, who had only been with the company for six months. Three other members of staff were injured. At the time of the roof collapse, the specialist carrier pigeon exhibition Pigeon 2006 was in progress. In an obituary on its home page, Versele Laga states: “Valentin was the moving force behind the export successes of our products in the entire world. For that, we will always remain very grateful to him. The direction and all his colleagues present their sincere condolences to the family and we will always remember him as a loyal employee.”
