There's currently a lot of unrest at Zoo & Co., the third-largest pet specialist chain in Germany. After the loss of the locations in Austria at the end of last year as well as the further losses of individual locations in the first half of the year in Germany, it is quite obvious that Zoo & Co. Nicolaus, with its ten locations, now also wants to part from Zoo & Co. at the end of the year and join the Fressnapf group.
Zoo & Co. Nicolaus operates specialist stores Aschersleben, Bernburg, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Delitzsch, Güsten, Halberstadt, Magdeburg (2), Staßfurt and Lutherstadt Wittenberg. In addition, information is available to PET worldwide which states that the Zoo & Co. Süd operators of five specialist pet stores on the German-Swiss border want to leave the franchise system and also switch to Fressnapf. The Zoo & Co. Süd locations are in Bad Säckingen, Kehl, Lörrach (2) and Freiburg. At Sagaflor AG they have reacted with personnel changes: Ursula Lindl, former top manager at well-known companies in industry, retail, wholesale and mail order is moving with immediate effect from the supervisory board to the board of directors of the Sagaflor headquarters in Kassel where she is assuming control together with board spokesman Peter Pohl. This is expected to further and more consistently tackle the ongoing restructuring of the franchise system at Zoo & Co.
Christian Appel, who is second member of the Sagaflor executive board alongside Peter Pohl, will be leaving the company at the end of the year and is handing over his executive office with immediate effect. The Sagaflor partners Axel Mauch, Thomas Stoczek, Lars Heindl, Michael Spiering and Alexander Wagner will continue to accompany the executive board duo as supervisory board members with Axel Mauch as chairman.
