BackArvato to deliver abroad too for Fressnapf
The logistics service provider Arvato Supply Chain Solutions, which belongs to Bertelsmann, will continue to be responsible for the entire e-commerce logistics for online shops of the Fressnapf Group over the next five years. The contract between Arvato and Fressnapf covering future collaboration has been extended until 2025.
At its Großzöberitz-Heideloh depot close to Leipzig, Arvato has been storing, picking and packing goods from the range of 12 000 products sold by the Krefeld-based pet store chain since 2015. More than two million parcels per year are now delivered from the warehouse to end customers and Fressnapf stores in Germany and abroad. This is a growing trend, according to Arvato, as the coronavirus crisis has significantly boosted online retailing.
The logistics provider believes it is well prepared for a higher volume of deliveries both in terms of technology and infrastructure. Last autumn, Arvato expanded its facilities in Heideloh from 24 000 m2 to 36 000 m2. Delivery to end customers is now undertaken not only in Germany and Luxembourg, as it was when the collaboration commenced, but now also to Austria and Poland.
Other European countries are expected to be added to the list in the short and medium term. Apart from shipping, Arvato's service portfolio also includes handling returned goods and the storage and delivery of hazardous materials across Europe. As well as delivery to customers, the Heideloh warehouse also supplies Fressnapf/Maxi Zoo stores in Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Austria, France, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. Hungary will be the next country to be included in the network of store deliveries.
