New terrarium
Hagen has brought a new terrarium in four different sizes onto the market under its “Exo Terra” brand. Depending on the size of the terrarium the glass is 4 or 6 mm thick. The new terrarium is fitted with a type of window that has a catch for opening and closing it. A high plinth on which the terrarium stands additionally permits heating panels to be fitted. Tunnels can also be added easily for reptiles. All terrariums are supplied complete with a back panel and come in an attractive pack.

Getting rid of snails the natural way
JBL, the German aquarium company, offers “LimCollect”, a trap that eliminates the problem of snail plagues without the need for chemical agents or special fish. The trap is simply placed on the bottom of the aquarium and then removed the following day full of snails. “LimCollect” comes complete with a “Novo Fect” food tablet and is ready to use straight away. The new version has two entrances, doubling its effectiveness and halving the time required for use of the sturdy snail trap. And if a fish should find its way into the trap, the two entrances mean that the flow of water in the trap will ensure an adequate supply of oxygen until the fish is liberated by the aquarium owner.

Delicacy in the aquarium
Polish company Tropical has unveiled “FD Brine Shrimps”, freeze-dried, fully-grown artemia shrimps that are a complete food with a high carotinoid content, according to the company. The shrimps provide a natural, colour-enhancing delicacy in dried form for all freshwater and marine fish.

New cichlid food
German aquatics company Tetra has taken account of the trend towards a greater variety of cichlids and the popularity of this species with the development of two new granular feeds. “TetraCichlid Mini Granules” is a main food mix for smaller dwarf cichlids consisting of two different mini-granules to provide varied yet balanced nutrition. The small granules facilitate optimum take-up of the food, while natural carotinoids also enhance colour. The granules contain all the vital nutrients, vitamins and trace elements, thus actively promoting the fish’s colour and defences against disease. The new food is available in 250 ml and 500 ml packs.

Aquarium/base cabinet combination
French company Rena is offering a complete aquarium set comprising tank, external filter, heating, lighting and cabinet under the name “Aqualife Corner + Meuble”. The surround is aluminium, offering sturdy, effective protection against scratches. A special method derived from the aviation industry has been used to assemble the individual components. The base cabinet of birch wood boasts plenty of storage space for accessories, with four shelves of tough glass.
