New Launch: “Bitch Diet”
The British company Vitalin was the originator of the first commercially produced complete dog food in the UK. Up to now, the company has deliberately avoided developing a never-ending range of the unnecessary life stage products that try and target small market sectors and has concentrated on the volume sectors of the market. “Bitch-Diet” is totally different and has an enormous market, based on the fact that 50 per cent of the dog population are bitches. “Bitch-Diet” has been formulated and developed to give the best possible nutritional diet, using fresh chicken, chicken meat meal, egg, fishmeal and rice as the main ingredients. This produces an extremely palatable and digestible product that is particularly essential during whelping and lactation, when bitches often go off their food. It has high levels of anti-oxidant vitamins and trace minerals such as beta-carotene, vitamin C and organic selenium, as recent evidence suggests that these nutrients can increase litter sizes – an important benefit to breeders. “Bitch-Diet” also contains levels of all B-vitamins and taurine to increase metabolism for their high demand. It has carefully balanced calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D to promote healthy bone development and a supply of adequate electrolytes to prevent dehydration and promote milk production during lactation. “Bitch-Diet” will be available in 2.5 kg and 15 kg bags.

Professional aquatics
The Nutrafin CO2 Natural System, a brand produced by Hagen, introduces a CO2 system that is based on the principle of alcoholic fermentation. It provides planted aquariums (max. 180 litres) with the optimum amount of CO2 and guarantees the correct pH value for the heal-thy growth of plants and fish. After having been produced by a natural process in the fermenter, the gas in the reactor can then dissolve in the water. More reliable than similar systems which work on the principle of yeast fermentation, and totally independent of technically costly systems involving refill bottles of CO2, it provides even beginners at aquarium-keeping with a fully functioning and reasonably priced solution for maintaining planted aquariums. Special technical features include the thermal regulation and “No risk” safety system on the lid of the fermenter, which prevent an unwanted build-up of pressure during the fermentation process, and an additional device to ensure the optimum dissolution of CO2 in the water. Further advantages include easy handling, optimum dosage and automatic regulation of the constant production of micro-bubbles, and reusable fermenter. A refill pack of the natural fermentation components lasts about 30 days.

Steel for pets
The Indian company Kumar Steels, Delhi, has a complete range of dishes for pets in stainless steel. They now unveil two new and novel products for the world of pets: The “Shield” bowl has been developed as an answer to the problem of crawling insects invading pet food. Any pet that eats off the ground can be seriously infected. “Shield” is designed to ensure that insects will not cross the water to enter the food bowl. The product is safe, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing as well. It is available in two sizes, 12 oz and 32 oz. “Quencher” is a self-watering bowl. Some families leave their pets alone for the day while they are at work. Serious dehydration can occur if pets are not given enough water. Evaporation, stagnant water and growth of algae in the water are of concern to pet owners. Self-watering bowls are one answer to this concern. Kumar has developed the most simple and economical way of solving the problem.
