Midwestern Pet Foods has expanded its voluntary recall, initiated on 30 December 2020, of certain dog and cat food products. The expanded recall, which the company announced on 11 January, includes additional dry and cat food products made with corn that expire on or before 9 July 2022. The products may contain aflatoxin levels which exceed acceptable limits.
The products were distributed nationally to online distributors and retail stores across the USA. Midwestern Pet Foods is expanding its voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution to help protect the health and safety of pets.
The American daily press has already reported 70 deaths and 80 cases of illness in dogs previously fed the company's products.
