Mera Petfood develops its dog and cat food based on great affection for pets and an ethical approach to its work. In coming up with creative product solutions, its nutritional scientists don't just follow any trend indiscriminately, but pay attention to substance, desirability and reason - always for the benefit of the pet. The products and marketing concepts generate a steady stream of new stimuli, thereby also assisting retail partners. "We give our best on a daily basis for our customers' pets," states the company. This is why it believes in omitting colourings and preservatives, flavourings, vitamin K3, sugar, soya and genetically modified ingredients or exotic sources of meat from all products.

Innovative and sustainable

Mera is one of the top 3 manufacturers of baked goods for dogs in Europe. At its premises in Kevelaer (Lower Rhine) it produces more than 470 different extrudates and baked products. In addition to the administration building, the company site now includes a fully automated high-bay warehouse, production plant with extrusion facilities and baking lines that are among the most modern in Europe. More than 70 000 tonnes of dry food and baked goods for dogs and cats are produced there annually. Mera branded products are exported to over 40 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
To accord a higher priority to sustainability, the company gained certification from TÜV Rheinland for the first time in 2019 under the ZNU Standard - Driving Sustainable Change. It also instituted systematic sustainability management, in which the sourcing of regional raw materials is a key factor.
This certification has been verified once again this year, but with closer attention paid to social aspects of the company. Thus employees now have a number of opportunities available to them such as e-bike leasing, yoga and mindfulness courses.
