Organic food from Austria tops the ratings

Of 15 varieties of organic dog food tested, Dog's Love Bio Rind (Organic Beef) was the only one to be awarded a "Very good" rating by the German test magazine Öko-Test (1/2017). The success achieved by family firm Petco comes as no surprise. "We focus not only on canine welfare, but the welfare of all pets. Our organic Dog's Love line has a special significance for me," says company founder Katharina Miklauz. Petco markets an extensive organic range that has been developed with enthusiasm and an eye for detail. Apart from the test winner, the moist food Organic Beef with Organic Brown Rice, Organic Apple & Organic Courgette, the assortment includes two other moist food varieties: Organic Turkey with Organic Amaranth, Organic Pumpkin & Organic Parsley, and Organic Chicken with Organic Buckwheat, Organic Celery & Organic Basil.
The complete foods are produced in Styria in conformity with the strict guidelines of Austrian food legislation. The recipes for the menus were developed in collaboration with veterinarians, the organic varieties of Dog's Love being formulated as gluten-free single-protein menus without flavour enhancers, flavourings, colourings, preservatives or additional sugar. Dispensing with classic animal testing is a matter of conviction for the company, and so every product is sampled initially by the dogs present in the family-owned firm, primarily by Nala, the Golden Retriever. "She is my favourite tester, because she likes everything," jokes entrepreneur Katharina Miklauz. A network of volunteer testers is also available to her among her circle of friends. A high level of acceptance of Dog's Love products confirms the correctness of the Vienna company's testing strategy.

In addition to the moist food varieties in the Dog's Love organic range, there are two fruit/vegetable mixes in organic grades. Bio Greens and Bio Reds are suitable both for dogs on raw food diets and for adding an extra portion of vitamins to any other food type. Two bio-oils as a food supplement and the Canna Canis moist food line with organic hemp in the Dog's Love range constitute another valuable element of the organic assortment.
