Fressnapf plans more than 150 new openings in 2018

Fressnapf’s sales in 2017 came to nearly 2 bn euros.

With the international rollout of its online shop and over 150 new stores, the Fressnapf pet store chain has set ambitious targets for this year. The Fressnapf Group's first online shop outside Germany is expected to be launched in Austria in the spring. Towards the end of the summer Europe's leading pet store chain intends to open its 1 500th store in one of the three countries, France, Italy or Poland, in which it is currently expanding.

Fressnapf ended fiscal 2017 with record sales of 1.98 bn euros, an increase of six and a half per cent compared with the previous year. Like-for-like sales increased by three and a half per cent.

Germany remains the strongest market and Fressnapf sales there grew by around six per cent (like-for-like: roughly three and a half per cent) to 1.25 bn euros. In the other ten countries in which the group operates, annual sales grew by nearly eight per cent to 727 mio euros.

Fressnapf enjoyed particular success in Poland (+55.6 per cent), Italy (+16.9 per cent), France (+13.3 per cent) and Hungary (+13.2 per cent). Online sales in Germany experienced growth of more than 22 per cent to 73 mio euros.
