Bob Martin Ltd, the UK-based parent company of French plant Bob Martin SAS in Nemours, is pulling the plug on its French subsidiary due to continuing losses and little prospect of the situation improving. By the reporting date of 24 May no buyer had yet been found for the plant, which specialised in the production of food supplements for pets.
Bob Martin acquired the plant from Nestlé Purina PetCare two years ago. According to newspaper reports, 60 people were employed by Bob Martin SAS.
Bob Martin Ltd aims to concentrate in future on its business units in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain, which the company states are all viable and profitable.  The company does not expect the events in France to have any effect on the service level and in particular on deliveries in other countries.
