After Hurricane Harvey caused extensive flooding in the state of Texas at the end of August, Hurricane Irma is now threatening to inundate cities both on the coast and inland in Florida.
Many companies and aid organisations are trying to help the victims with donations. However, it is not just people who are affected - many pets have also lost their homes thanks to the hurricane and are relying on aid. The Pet Leadership Council pet association and the aid organisation GreaterGood.org want to provide joint aid to the pets affected.
The two bodies are managing the distribution of urgently needed pet food, accessories and veterinary products donated by nearly two dozen big brands and retailers, including Mars Petcare, Petco and PetSmart. Around one million meals for pets affected by Hurricane Irma have now been donated.
