The BetterwithPets award, which was initially established by pet food manufacturer Nestlé Purina PetCare and is worth 100 000 Swiss francs, was presented in Barcelona on 7 June.
Of the total prize fund, the jury decided to award 40 000 Swiss francs to the winner, the Dutch OOPOEH Foundation. This organisation works to ensure that older dogs on their own are found people to care for them. The other four finalists, who received a ʺHighly commendedʺ notation from the jury, each received the sum of 15 000 Swiss francs.
The award was presented at the second BetterwithPets forum, attended by nearly 100 delegates from organisations and associations from all over Europe that have worked in different ways to strengthen the bond between human and pet. As well as an exchange of views, the interesting event promoted networking.
