Fiscal 2019

Zooplus increases sales to over 1.5 bn euros

30.01.2020

Based on provisional figures, Zooplus recorded sales revenues totalling 1 524 mio euros in fiscal 2019 (2018: 1 342 mio euros), according to figures released by the company. The increase compared with the previous year was 182 mio euros or 14 per cent (currency-adjusted: 14%). Its increase in sales thus falls within the framework of forecast sales growth of 14 to 18 per cent for the 2019 financial year.
Sales increased in the second half of the year in particular: the fourth quarter of 2019 delivered a new record with sales of 419 mio euros, a jump of 51 mio euros from the previous year. Zooplus also acquired 823 000 new customers in the quarter. A primary contributory factor to the increase in sales was the company's expansion of private labels in the food and litter segments (sales increase: 29 per cent). Sales across the food and litter segments rose by 16 per cent compared with 2018, thereby increasing the share of these segments for the year just ended to 86 per cent (2018: 85 per cent).
Zooplus has not yet released any information regarding profits or losses for 2019. In the first nine months of 2019, however, the company recorded losses amounting to 13.9 mio euros (as reported by PET worldwide). The final figures for fiscal 2019 are expected to be released at the end of March.
