Fressnapf sees cooperations and joint ventures as a good opportunity to grow further, especially in Eastern Europe.

Fressnapf wants to expand into new countries. The company is primarily considering Eastern Europe. As an alternative to new national companies, Fressnapf boss Torsten Toeller can well imagine taking over existing local specialist retail groups or entering into a joint venture or other form of cooperation with them. "We have huge know-how in the classic retail sector, in online and omni-channel, in exclusive brands and in the area of data, CRM, customer insights, purchasing, import, sourcing, IT, technology and logistics. So we have a lot to offer as a partner."
A first step is the strategic partnership with Zoo Hobby, a Croatian wholesale and retail company that operates its own specialist stores in Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia and supplies the pet trade in the former Yugoslavia with the brands of more than 20 specialist suppliers. After starting with the brands "Premiere" and "MultiFit", Zoo Hobby recently gained access to the entire exclusive brand portfolio of Fressnapf with over 16 brands and several thousand products in its sales area.
For Torsten Toeller, the takeover of the Danish specialist retail chain Petworld, which Fressnapf acquired on 1 January this year (PET worldwide reported), is also trend-setting. Petworld owner Jan Sörensen wanted to retire for reasons of age and found in Fressnapf a partner who will continue to run his company with 36 stationary locations and online shops in the future. Through the deal, Fressnapf has massively expanded its market-leading position in Denmark and significantly increased its market share.
