“The positive trend is continuing”

"The positive trends in the Italian market continued in 2018 too," reports Gianmarco Ferrari, president of the Italian manufacturers' association Assalco.
In the dog and cat food segment in Italy, sales in excess of 2 bn euros were achieved, marking a sales increase of 1.5 per cent. Cat food accounts for 52.3 per cent of this figure, equivalent to nearly 1.1 bn euros. "A look at the shopping baskets of consumers shows that buyers are switching to premium products and smaller packs," adds Gianmarco Ferrari.A complete overview of all data on the Italian market will be presented in the Assalco Zoomark report on 6 May at the Zoomark opening conference.
