Symrise AG, which regards itself as a global supplier of aromatic substances and flavourings, aims to expand its engagement in the pet supplies industry with the acquisition of Dutch company Schaffelaarbos. Symrise entered the pet food market back in 2019 with its takeover of the US company ADF/IsoNova, the leading supplier of protein specialities based on chicken meat and proteins derived from eggs for the pet food industry. Schaffelaarbos produces sustainable proteins for the pet food industry and previously belonged to the private investor firm Intersaction.
Symrise aims to combine and add to the current activities of ADF/Iso Nova in the USA with the modern facilities of Schaffelaarbos in Barneveld. Customers should thus be better served in future with a global portfolio and regional supply chain, according to the company based in Holzminden. By acquiring Schaffelaarbos, Symrise takes up a leading position in the European market for proteins from eggs, with long-term access to high-quality raw materials and a customer base comprising leading pet food suppliers.
