The Hornbach Group once again increased its sales in the first quarter of 2021/22 (March 1 to May 31, 2021) compared with the previous year's record level. Consolidated sales rose by 6.4 percent to 1 678.1 mio euros (previous year: 1 577 mio euros). According to the company's statement, sales at its largest operating subgroup, Hornbach Baumarkt AG (DIY retail), rose by 5.6 per cent to 1 575.8 mio euros (previous year: 1 492.1 mio euros). Adjusted for sales area and exchange rate effects, DIY sales across the Group increased by 4.3 per cent in the first three months.
According to the company, online orders and Click & Collect grew particularly strongly in the first quarter of 2021/22. Overall, online sales (including Click & Collect) grew year-on-year by 71.2 per cent to 375 mio euros.
Net sales at Hornbach DIY stores in Germany rose by 0.8 per cent to 814.9 mio euros in the first quarter (previous year: 808.4 mio euros). In the other European countries region, which includes the DIY business activities of the eight countries outside Germany, sales rose by 11.3 per cent to 760.9 mio euros (previous year: 683.7 mio euros). Adjusted for area and currency effects, sales in the rest of Europe increased by 9.5 per cent.
