BackPet food driving sales at Nestlé
In the first nine months of 2020, Nestlé Purina Petcare's sales amounted to 10.38 bn Swiss francs (approx. 9.7 bn euros) as compared with 9.97 bn Swiss francs (approx. 9.3 bn euros) in the same period in 2019. Considered by product sector, Purina Petcare made the biggest contribution to overall sales growth at Nestlé. Sales were driven by the Felix, Purina Pro Plan and Tails.com brands along with strong demand in the e-commerce and special channels.
Total online sales increased in the first three quarters of 2020 by 47.6 per cent, accounting for 12.3 per cent of overall sales. Pet food was one of the principal contributors to this growth.
In North America, Purina Petcare was the chief contributor to growth. In Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, Purina Petcare achieved double-digit growth.
In China, Nestlé sales experienced a downturn in the first two quarters, but were positive in the third quarter. The growth rate of Purina Petcare was in double figures. It was also one of the main growth drivers in Southeast Asia.
