Survey of 784 pet owners

New US study on pet parents

31.10.2019

The Orlando-based advertising agency Bigeye has released its Pet Industry Study 2019, which reveals how pet parenting is reshaping the landscape for the consumer packaged goods and retail industries.
The researchers conducted a 45-question online survey of 784 pet owners aged 25 to 55 across the US and found out that 34 per cent of owners say their pet influenced where they live. Another interesting point was that 42 per cent of pet owners who haven't used cannabidiol (CBD) products on their pets would consider trying it. And 95 per cent of owners considered pets members of their families, according to the consumer survey.
"This shift toward humanising our pets will dramatically affect everything from product design and distribution to brand premiumisation," points out Adrian Tennant, vice-president of insights at Bigeye, who led the research team. "In particular, strong generational preferences will drive placement in media-buying strategy. Smart brands will listen to the voices of their customers and adapt to these changes."
