Increase of nearly nine per cent for Hornbach stores

Sales by Hornbach stores abroad now account for 48.6 per cent.

The 157 Hornbach DIY stores and the group's online shops in nine European countries increased their net sales in the first six months of fiscal 2019/2020 (ended 31 August 2019) by 8.7 per cent to 2.4447 bn euros.

In like-for-like terms and adjusted for currency effects, the DIY stores and garden centres achieved sales growth of 8.3 per cent in the first half of the year. The net sales of the Hornbach stores in Germany and the German online shop increased in the first half of 2019/2020 by 7 per cent to 1.2558 bn euros.

Like-for-like sales in Germany increased by 7.4 per cent. In the eight countries outside Europe, net sales grew by 10.5 per cent to 1.1889 bn euros.

The foreign share of sales increased from 47.8 per cent to 48.6 per cent. Adjusted for retail area and currency effects, sales in the rest of Europe grew by 9.2 per cent.
