Net sales at the largest operating subgroup, Hornbach Baumarkt, rose by 4.6 per cent to 3 085.2 mio euros in the first half of 2021/22 (previous year: 2 949.0 mio euros). Adjusted for sales area and exchange rate effects, the DIY and garden centres achieved sales growth of 3.4 per cent in the first six months. The DIY online business reported sales growth of 48.4 per cent to 593 mio euros in the first half of the financial year, thus achieving a 19.2 per cent share of sales in the subgroup (previous year: 13.6 per cent).
Net sales at Hornbach's DIY stores in Germany and via the online shop rose by 1.5 per cent to 1 579.7 mio euros in the first half of the year (previous year: 1 557.0 mio euros). Like-for-like sales in Germany increased by 0.7 per cent in the same period (previous year: 24.3 per cent).
Net sales in the eight countries outside Germany rose by 8.2 per cent to 1 505.5 mio euros (previous year: 1 391.9 mio euros). The international share of sales at the Hornbach Baumarkt subgroup amounted to 48.8 per cent (previous year: 47.2 per cent). Adjusted for sales area and currency items, sales in the rest of Europe grew by 6.4 per cent (previous year: 14.4 per cent).
