BC Partners acquire Pet City

The BC Partners group of investors has acquired a majority holding in Pet City. Previously operated as a family firm, the pet supplies company was established in 1988. It has since developed into the leading pet store chain in Greece, with almost 80 stores and a busy online shop. The founding family will retain a minor stake in Pet City. BC Partners expects the deal to be closed by the end of the year.
The London-based investor group has a strong European network. It is no stranger to the pet sector, having already acquired the leading American pet store chain PetSmart. BC Partners expects to see robust growth rates in the Greek pet supplies sector in the next few years.
