93 salmonella cases likely to have been caused by pig ear dog treats

On 3 July, Pet Supplies Plus recalled bulk pig ear products distributed to all of its locations by several different vendors due to the potential of salmonella contamination.
Public health officials in the United States are continuing to investigate 93 cases of salmonella infection in humans that pig ear dog treats may have caused. The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have stated that several varieties of salmonella, including serotypes Infantis, London and Newport, are involved in the infections. People in 27 US states were involved in this salmonella outbreak, with twenty people being hospitalised.
