The Chinese pet supplies market is booming. This is evident from a report previewing the China International Pet Show, which takes place in Shanghai from 20 to 23 November.
According to the report, the Chinese pet supplies market was worth 22 bn euros in 2018 after reaching around 20 bn euros in the previous year. The author of the market analysis expects the market to grow by more than 20 per cent in the next 3-5 years, possibly attaining 33 bn euros by 2022. Imported brands are growing fast and sales of these are 118 per cent higher than for domestic brands.
There are reportedly roughly 27.4 mio pets in China currently. The most dogs and cats are to be found in Beijing, followed by Guanghzou and Shanghai.
