FEDIAF: key information about the nutritional needs of older dogs

FEDIAF, the European pet food industry federation, has published a new expert paper containing key information about the nutritional needs of older dogs. It features a collection of scientific data and explains the different life expectancies of dogs in relation to their size, as well as defining the onset of ageing.
The paper also gives pet owners practical advice on feeding older dogs. It explains how changes in the digestive tract can influence the ingestion of food, or how food texture can become a decisive factor.
The development of the expert paper was led by the Scientific Advisory Board of FEDIAF. This consists of independent scientists from leading European universities. The expert paper "Nutrition of senior dogs" can be downloaded from the FEDIAF website.
