La Féderation des Jardineries and Animaleries, a French industry association for garden centres and pet stores, has announced that French garden centres increased their sales by 1.1 per cent in 2020 as compared with 2019. After experiencing a drop in sales of 7.2 per cent mid-year due to the first Covid-19 lockdown, they were able to increase them again by 12.5 per cent in the second half of the year.
The pet category did not develop quite as successfully within French garden centres. While the loss in sales of 7.2 per cent in the first half of the year was in line with the average, the second half only saw an increase of 5.2 per cent, which was below the overall figure. Sales in the pet category thus recorded a 1 per cent drop in France's garden centres in 2020 compared with the previous year.
