All of its stores closed

Petland files for bankruptcy

17.04.2019

The US-based pet retail chain Petland Discounts is closing all of its stores in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut and has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy. 367 employees will be laid off from the New York locations, 30 from New Jersey stores and seven from the Connecticut stores, according to local media coverage. The closures follow on the heels of the death of the chain's founder, Neil Padron, in January.
The bankruptcy filing is the latest development in the closure of the New York tri-state area's largest independent pet store chain, which once operated nearly 120 stores in the region.
