The internationally active Hornbach Group enjoyed a successful fiscal 2020/2021 (1 March 2020 to 28 February 2021) thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Net sales in the Hornbach Holding Group increased by 15.4 per cent to 5.456 bn euros. The Hornbach Baumarkt division, with 161 DIY stores and garden centres (as of 28 February) as well as online shops in nine countries and two speciality stores, increased its sales by 15.6 per cent to 5.117 bn euros. Following adjustment for currency translation effects, like-for-like sales of the DIY stores and garden centres across the group rose by 14.7 per cent.
In Germany, the net sales of Hornbach Baumarkt AG including online retailing grew by a hefty 18.2 per cent to 2.654 bn euros (previous year: 2.245 bn euros). Like-for-like growth was 18.6 per cent (previous year: 6.5 per cent)
In the eight countries in which it operates outside Germany, the Hornbach Baumarkt division saw sales growth of 12.8 per cent to 2.463 bn euros (previous year: 2.183 bn euros). Adjusted for currency effects, Hornbach's like-for-like sales in the rest of Europe increased by 10.8 per cent (previous year: 8.9 per cent).
