Petoutlet and Ornimundo are the leading pet supplies chains in Portugal.
Petoutlet currently has 38 stores and has declared its intention of opening another 12 outlets in the next two years.
With 24 stores in its set-up at the moment, Ornimundo has now converted the Zoofeira chain that it acquired in December 2017 almost fully to its own in-house brand.More competitors are now entering the market, however. While leading Spanish pet store chain Kiwoko is already operating its first stores in Portugal, Tiendanimal is also set to open its first outlet in the country in Porto.The Portuguese retail giant Sonae is also getting heavily involved with its young speciality chain Zu. This has 13 stores, which are located in particular in the company's own shopping centres.
