The family firm, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, decided last autumn to separate out the divisions hitherto combined into one GmbH & Co. KG in favour of a flexible holding structure. Its garden centre, agricultural, Degro wholesale and logistics divisions have been converted into legally independent profit centres in the form of GmbH & Co. KG enterprises under the umbrella of Dehner Holding GmbH & Co. KG. As of 1 January, in addition to the unit responsible for strategic development and brand management under the leadership of CEO Georg Weber, the Dehner Group had three operational units: garden centre purchasing (category management), cross channel, e-commerce and marketing under the new stewardship of Oliver Haller (chief purchasing officer), garden centre distribution, expansion, Degro and logistics headed by Bernhard Hönig (chief sales officer) and finance, HR, organisation/IT, building and agriculture under Dr Hansjörg Flassak (chief financial officer).
Employing over 5 000 people in Germany and Austria, the garden centre operator demonstrated its desire to maintain its dynamic growth rate in the future in March and at the beginning of April. In early March, Dehner opened a new store with a retail area of 5 700 m2 in the Waiblinger Tor retail park near Stuttgart. In mid-March it launched another outlet in Filderstadt, likewise in the vicinity of Stuttgart, not far from a Fressnapf store. Further stores followed in Klagenfurt and Pforzheim. New store openings are also planned in Chemnitz and Wiener Neustadt in the autumn.

Large selection

The pet enclosures are located next to one another at the rear of the department and constitute an attractive display housing a wide variety of pets. The bird and small animal enclosures are protected from direct contact with customers by a glass door, enabling the inhabitants to retreat inside if necessary. An aquarium wall in an elegant shade of light grey offers a large selection of popular freshwater fish species, with a separate aqua-tic plant section adjacent to this.
Waiblingen is one of the first Dehner stores to have its own barf shop. Here frozen food, speciality sausages, food supplements and other products for biologically appropriate raw feeding are presented in an attractive manner. Only present in…
