SureFlap was founded in 2007 by Cambridge physicist Dr Nick Hill, who wanted to stop unwanted neighbourhood cats entering his home through the cat flap. He developed the Microchip Cat Flap, which uses a cat's standard identification microchip as a personalised door key. Through continuous innovation, the company has extended its range of microchip pet doors to include the DualScan Cat Flap and the Microchip Pet Door, designed for small dogs and multi-cat households respectively.
With more than half a million pet doors sold worldwide, SureFlap reinforced its position as the leading microchip pet product specialist with the launch of the world's first microchip-operated pet feeder in 2014. The SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder solves the common problem of food stealing in multi-pet households and is ideal for pets on specialist diets or weight management programs.
The company's commitment to product quality has gained recognition from the pet industry in the form of prestigious awards including International Cat Care's Cat Friendly Award for both the Microchip Cat Flap and the Microchip Pet Feeder, the UK Pet Product Retailers Association Award (PPRA), as well as the Top Neuheiten Award, voted for by retailers and issued by the German Retail Publisher Daehne Verlag.

Prior to the launch of the product, SureFlap surveyed more than 1 000 cat and dog owners and discovered that cat owners who feed their pet wet food throw a third of it away on average because it dries out and becomes unpalatable. The same survey found that owners of small dogs throw away 25 per cent of wet food on average, amounting to a substantial financial deficit over time. The SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl features a unique integrated seal which makes contact with the bowl's lid when not in use, to help keep food fresher for longer, thus preventing wastage due to food drying out. It also reduces pet food odours in the home and prevents flies from settling on the pet's food in hot weather.
To support the product in-store, SureFlap is offering retailers in-store demonstration kits that are ideal to place at the checkout. A fun way to engage with customers, the food bowl can be filled with complimentary SureFeed branded sweets to tempt customers to help themselves and, in…
