Karl-Heinz Dähne, the founder of Dähne Verlag GmbH, Ettlingen and one of its shareholders, passed away on 27 July at the age of 87. The launch of the pet trade magazine in 1983 took the publisher into the nascent pet supplies sector. Other trade journals such as Holzforum followed, along with a string of national and international directories.Dähne Verlag has also been publishing books since 1992, chiefly in the aquatics field, and in 1993 it ventured into the special interest sphere. In 1996, Karl-Heinz Dähne achieved another first in setting up the first Internet portal for the DIY, timber and pet sectors. All Internet platforms have developed into indispensable electronic media with strong topical references.Karl-Heinz Dähne stood down from the operational running of the publishing house in 2000 and turned over the management of the company to his sons Marc and Gernot.
