The Fressnapf Group continues to grow consistently in all customer channels - that was the company's message at its annual press conference in Krefeld on Thursday 2 February. The group grew by 7.5 per cent in 2016, with sales totalling 1.86 bn euros, while like-for-like sales increased by more than five per cent.
The ten foreign markets in which Fressnapf operates saw the biggest rise in sales of nearly eleven per cent to 674 mio euros for the year. Germany once again accounted for the largest absolute share of sales at 1.18 bn euros, equivalent to an increase of nearly six per cent over the previous year. The development of the online shop was also remarkable, according to Fressnapf, with annual sales of 59 mio euros and growth of 22 per cent.
The group operated a total of 1 378 Fressnapf and Maxi-Zoo stores in 2016. Of these, 879 are located in Germany and 499 abroad. In the coming year the company plans to open 80 new stores, concentrating on France, Italy and Poland in particular. The Fressnapf Group aims to open more than 800 new stores over the next five years. Around 11 000 people were working for the Fressnapf Group last year.
