New logistics centre close to Vienna

The new Hornbach logistics centre is in Enzersdorf an der Fischa.

Since 8 January, DIY stores belonging to Hornbach Baumarkt AG in Austria, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been receiving their supplies of goods from the new cross-docking centre in Enzersdorf an der Fischa.

It is the company's fifth logistics centre after Essingen, Vilshofen, Lehrte and Soltau, and the first outside Germany.

"This new logistics location will shorten the delivery routes and times to our stores in central and eastern Europe considerably," said Bernhard Dieckmann, head of group logistics operations at Hornbach Baumarkt AG.

Founded in 1877 in the southern Palatinate region, the company now operates 156 DIY stores in nine European countries, which are now supplied with products from five logistics sites in all.

The new Hornbach logistics centre is part of the Industrial Campus Vienna East, which is located directly adjacent to Vienna Airport (Schwechat). Here Deutschen Logistik Holding (DLH), a company in the Zech Group, is constructing around 160 000 m² of warehousing and approx.

10.000 m² of office space on a site covering more than three hectares. The end of 2021 is being targeted for completion of Austria's biggest industrial and logistic centre and after Arvato/Bertelsmann, Hornbach is the second company to take up residence here.
