Nestlé Purina PetCare has signed an agreement to acquire the majority holding in Terra Canis. "The outstanding expertise of Terra Canis in the premium natural pet food segment, combined with the global resources of Nestlé Purina PetCare, a long history of innovations and an industry-leading focus on nutrition create an attractive offering for consumers," Nestlé has announced in a press release.
Terra Canis is based in Munich and employs 26 people. Last year the company realised 17 million euros in sales, a figure that is expected to increase to 20 million this year.
Once the takeover is complete, which will probably take several weeks, Terra Canis is expected to continue operating as an autonomous company. Birgitta Ornau is also likely to remain in post as the managing director of the pet food manufacturer.
No details of the agreement have been disclosed, according to Nestlé's press release.
