Megazoo is stopping the sale of royal blue tangs. This move to protect the species has been prompted by the recent release of the animated movie "Finding Dory", the main character in which is Dory, a blue tang. Megazoo is anticipating that the fish will be in great demand as a result; the problem with this, however, is that these fish are not suitable to be kept as pets. According to Megazoo, the fish are not actively being bred either, which could soon lead to them becoming an endangered species.
"Responsible pet owning, along with support for species protection and endangered species, is a high priority for us. By stopping sales of blue tangs, we are sending a clear message regarding the preservation of this rare fish species," said Megazoo managing director Thomas Ptok.
